Job Summary:
Groundskeepers assist with the maintenance of an urban park infrastructure to create green areas that are healthy, attractive and orderly so they provide a first-class outdoor experience. Duties are assigned in the following areas but not limited to: horticulture, pathways, irrigation, custodial, shelter preparation, mow crew, field preparation, buildings, event staffing, holiday light installation/removal, and snow removal. Duties occasionally require work on weekends and evenings to support events. Work is performed under supervision of the Parks Maintenance Manager or designated supervisor who issue written or oral work orders.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Priority one is to support a safe and cooperative work environment;

Assist with daily turf and plant maintenance: Mow, edge, prune, weed control; Assist with irrigation adjustments and repairs;
Assist with pathway maintenance;

Daily shelter preparation and post clean for reservations and use; Daily site cleanup, trash collection, and custodial duties;
Operation and maintenance of light equipment maintenance protocols; Assist with facility maintenance and repairs;
Available to work weekends and evenings as part of shift or for special events as needed;

Daily ballfield preparation and maintenance;

May be required to operate a city vehicle towing a trailer with equipment; Assist with or performs other tasks as assigned or needed.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Physically fit and able to work out of doors for extended periods, occasionally in adverse weather conditions; Ability to stand and operate hand and power tools for extended periods;

Ability to mount and operate mechanical mowers and machinery;

Ability to operate a pickup motor vehicle, UTV, or mower with no assistance; Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions;
Perform duties with integrity and maintain effective working relationships;

Ability to properly and effectively use hand tools: saw, hammer, ratchet, screwdriver, etc., preferred;

Ability to operate a pickup truck, mowing equipment, ball field grooming and utility vehicles, preferred;

Ability to effectively and safely use a string trimmer, backpack blower, edger, push mower, pneumatic, and hand power tools, preferred;

Ability to operate a dump truck, excavator, skid steer, backhoe, and forklift, preferred; Ability to drive city streets in a safe manor;
Complete monthly electronic timecard.


Licensing:
Possession of valid State of Idaho driver’s license and safe driving record.


Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Regularly work near maintenance equipment;

Regularly work outside in adverse weather and exposed to hot, humid, cold conditions; Regularly exposed to loud noise levels;
Frequently requires driving a motor vehicle or maintenance equipment;

Frequent lifting or moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts or moves 100 pounds.
