Salary Range: $21.00 to $23.00 per hour, DOE
Anticipated Work Schedule: Part-Time hours until June 2, 2025. Camp will operate from June 2nd to August 1st. The daily schedule will be Monday-Friday, 8:45 AM to 4:15 PM. Camp will not be open on July 3rd and July 4th.

Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Recreation Coordinator (Activities & Camps), the employee is responsible for coordinating the department’s summer camp programs including but not limited to traditional day camp, outdoor adventure camp, and sports camp. Work includes the planning, organizing, promoting, and implementation of a comprehensive summer camp program, the maintaining of program and facility safety, coordination of the programs’ operations and supervision of related personnel of the assigned camp facilities. Work is reviewed through performance evaluations of accomplished goals, projects, and programs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
•Oversees summer camp programs and promotional materials. Communicates with program leadership staff to ensure that program guidelines and rules are followed;
•Plans, coordinates, supervises and conducts summer camp activities to achieve departmental and community service goals;
•Plans, assigns, supervises and evaluates the work of seasonal camp staff; assists the Recreation Coordinator in the hiring of seasonal camp staff, conducts interviews, trains and develops staff; maintains employee records under supervision of the Recreation Coordinator;
•Reviews and recommends to the Recreation Coordinator that eligible applicants be hired and that subordinate employees be transferred, suspended, promoted, terminated, reassigned or disciplined in the best interest of the program unit and the department;
•Prepares publicity on summer camps; solicits active interest, participation and support of Meridian citizens. Coordinates flyers, website and social media updates to assist with marketing and promotion of summer camp opportunities;
•Assists the Recreation Coordinator in the collecting of and accounting for fees, charges and disbursements; maintains records of revenues, expenses and deposits of summer camps under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator;
•In coordination with the Recreation Coordinator, develops and implements administrative policies regarding summer camp registration;
•Plans and implements activities, field trips, transportation, food items, guest speakers, field trips, etc. Records and maintains supply inventory and performs purchasing duties;
•Monitors summer camp registrations and trends, and develops educational/recreational curriculums accordingly. Coordinates training, development and implementation of summer camp programming among recreation division seasonal camp staff;
•Works with the Recreation Coordinator in developing programming models for summer camp programs and locations;
•Collects feedback from campers, parents, and staff to improve summer camp programs. Maintains and fosters partnerships with West Ada School District administration and staff;
•Responds to inquiries and complaints from the general public;
•Administers and reviews budgets for summer day camp under supervision of Recreation Coordinator. Ensures planning and alignment of activities fall within budget constraints;
•Perform other related duties as assigned or needed.
Job Specifications:
•High School Diploma plus 3-years’ of progressively responsible experience in recreation, education or day camp services, one year of which must have been at the supervisory level; or any equivalent combination of experience, education and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Licensing and Certification:
•Must obtain CPR, AED and First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
•While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to temperature changes, night lighting and is subject to outside environmental conditions;
•Constantly requires clarity of speech and hearing, which permits the employee to communicate effectively;
•Constantly requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits they employee to function in an outside environment to accomplish tasks;
•Occasionally requires driving a motor vehicle.
Travel Requirements
•Local travel is occasionally required via City vehicle.
