Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Golf Course Assistant Superintendent, the employee will assist in the management of the daily operation, administration and supervision of turf grass and facility maintenance of Lakeview Golf Course. Work is under the supervision of the Golf Course Grounds Maintenance Superintendent. Working hours include weekday, weekends, holidays and on-call hours.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Assists in maintaining golf course cart paths, tee areas, fairways, greens, roughs, bunkers, ponds, irrigation, landscaping/hardscaping and buildings;

Support a safe and cooperative work environment;

Operates irrigation equipment;

Diagnose and repair electrical and piping for irrigation system;

Troubleshoots and solves software problems, monitors pump station operations;

Sets time clocks on sprinkler system, replaces broken sprinkler heads, performs system checks and winterization of sprinkler system;

Inspects golf course conditions, surrounding areas and facilities;

Schedules seasonal staff and equipment for seasonal and daily maintenance projects;

Assists in fertilizer and pesticide applications, rate calculations; equipment preparations and record keeping;

Monitors and records chemical labels to comply with OSHA data sheet guidelines;

Operates all golf course golf equipment;

Leads maintenance operations;

Leads training and safety practices;

Administers daily work schedules for staff, organizes work priorities for weekend and special events,

Assists Assistant Superintendent with project management;

Performs maintenance and repairs on tools, equipment buildings and other facilities;

Performs cost and feasibility analyses on supplies and equipment purchases;

Assist with or performs other tasks as assigned or needed.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of experience working in golf course maintenance;

1-year experience working in parks maintenance with experience maintaining and repairing irrigation systems and using pesticides;

Working knowledge of golf course operations; turf and landscape physiology, soil properties; renovation and improvement;

Irrigation practices and system operations with central control computer system;

Working knowledge of fertilizers, soil, pesticides and other chemicals used in golf course maintenance;

Ability to operate vehicles, heavy equipment, power and hand tools

Willingly perform routine manual labor;

Understand and follow oral and written instructions; without constant supervision;

Work outdoors in adverse weather conditions;

Cordially provide information and directions to golf course patrons and general public;

Interact with the public and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner;

Display an attitude of cooperation with all levels of city employees, the general public and other organizations

Communicate effectively for efficient job performance; completes assignments in a time manner;

Understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations;

Maintain prompt and regular attendance

Perform all essential and marginal tasks as assigned by supervisor and/or course manager with or without reasonable accommodation;


Licensing:
Possession of valid State of Idaho driver’s license and safe driving record.

Pesticide Applicator License or ability to obtain within six months of employment.


Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Regularly work outside in adverse weather and exposed to hot, humid, cold conditions;

Regularly exposed to loud noise levels;
