Job Summary:
Work alongside the city’s Communication Manger to develop video content in an effort to further communicate with Meridian residents and employees. From brainstorming and script writing to the filming and editing, this position is part of the video production process from start to finish.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Write, shoot, and edit small weekly video projects for website and social media;
Film and/or Live Stream City of Meridian events;
Assist with special video projects for the City of Meridian.
Job Specifications:
Enrolled as a high-school or college student;
Strong interest in video production;
Prior filming and video editing experience (Adobe Premiere Pro experience preferred);
Ability to work in an office environment, communicate well with others and work independently to meet deadlines.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to perform video editing;
Strong communication skills;
Ability to work independently;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department personnel, city officials and the general public;
Strong organizational skills.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Work is typically performed in a combination of office, studio, and on-location environments;
This role may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and lighting environments during outdoor shoots;
The noise level can range from quiet in an office setting to loud in production settings or public events;
The position requires sufficient personal mobility, including standing, walking, and carrying video equipment weighing up to 30 pounds. Occasional bending, kneeling, and climbing may be necessary to capture footage from various angles;
Requires sitting at a desk or computer terminal for periods of time and ability to lift up to 30 lbs.;
Constantly requires clarity of speech and hearing, which permits the employee to communicate effectively with the public and other department members;
Constantly requires clear vision to read printed materials and computer screen to accomplish work;
Constantly requires repetitive movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers;
Occasionally may require assisting with and attending department-sponsored special events or activities, sometimes after hours.
Travel Requirements:
Local travel is occasionally required;
Driver’s license is required.
